Carlos, our birding guide

Costa Rica has become a world-class destination for people who appreciate the exceptional hospitality and diverse birdlife of this very special country. Carrol and Ethelle Henderson have developed a national and even international reputation as birding tour leaders who know how to provide you with a wonderful birding experience. They have led 41 birding tours to Latin America, Africa and New Zealand, including 22 birding trips to Costa Rica. Carrol did his graduate studies on the wildlife of Costa Rica in 1969, and that is where he met Ethelle, who was a student at the University of Costa Rica. They were married 37 years ago and began leading trips to Costa Rica in 1987. Carrol is also the author of the Field Guide to the Wildlife of Costa Rica which was published by the University of Texas Press in 2002.

Carrol's in-depth knowledge of the country's wildlife and Ethelle's trip management skills, knowledge of the culture, traditions, people and Spanish language combine to make this trip much more than a chance to see and list birds. More than 75% of all the persons who have traveled with the Hendersons return with them on subsequent trips, and some people have traveled with them five to ten times. Their trips are a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty and diversity of wildlife in the American tropics with two of the country's most experienced, knowledgeable, dedicated and enthusiastic tour leaders.
